Things You'll Need:
- Silberlocke Fir
- Shovel
-
Step 1
Silberlocke FirSelect the correct planting site for your Silberlocke Fir. This Korean fir can tolerate the heat unlike many other firs. Silberlocke Fir will do well in zones 5 to 8; I have heard reports of them surviving in zone nine as well. The planting site should have plenty of room for this Korean fir to grow, it is going to get about 30 feet tall and 20 feet wide, so give it plenty of room to spread out. The planting site should be situated in full Sun with good soil drainage.
-
Step 2
Silberlocke FirDig a hole about twice the size of the Silberlocke root ball. For a vigorous healthy Silberlocke Fir, amend your soil with organic matter and mix in a slow release fertilizer Bury the root-ball to where the old soil line is. After you have planted the Silberlocke Fir, immediately water it thoroughly.
-
Step 3
Silberlocke FirAdd a layer of mulch, two to four inches deep to help conserve water needs and also keep the weeds down. Water your Silberlocke Fir every other day for a month until it is established. Once the Silberlocke Fir is established it is very low maintenance.
-
Step 4
Don't expect a big tree right away, Silberlocke Fir is very slow-growing can be trained into a bonsai. It will eventually grow to 30 feet tall and 20 feet wide. It only averages six 6 to 12 inches of growth a year after it is established. Sometimes a central leader is slow to establish, so you may want to try and one if you want a more pyramidal Silberlocke Fir

Step 5
