A codestone is the only form of payment the Mystery Island Training School will accept for courses to make your pet's level, defense, strength or speed increase. You can get them through random events or games, or by buying them.

Go to the training school. Here you will find out what kind of codestone you need. After starting a course, the master will ask you for a specific codestone. You can refer back to the training school if you don't know what kind he asked you to get.

Price the codestone. Search the shop wizard, the auction house and the trading post to find a good price on your specific codestone. They can be found at varying prices; the Bri is around 4,000 neopoints, while the Main and others are around 7,000 points. All the prices go up during site wars, as players train their pets for battle.

Get the money if you don't have it. Play your favorite games, sell unwanted items, do jobs at the employment agency and take advantage of freebies and easy promotional games.

Buy the codestone. If you are purchasing it from a shop, it's as easy as clicking on it. If you've placed a winning bid in the auction house or trading post, you must wait for the item or lot to close before it will appear in your inventory.

Take it back to the training school. It must be in your inventory in order for you to give it to the master. When you are there, just click "Start course" to give it to him. The course may take an hour or so to complete.

Tips & Warnings
If your Neopet is at a higher level, it will require more codestones to train it. An intermediate course costs three codestones, while a master course costs seven. There are other ways to get codestones. You may be lucky enough to get them in random events on the site or from playing the Tombola. There are also rare red codestones, used when your Neopet reaches level 250. They can be exchanged for training at the Mystery Island Volcano on Techo Mountain.
Different codestones are required for different courses at the training school. Be sure when you spend thousands of neopoints that you are getting the right one. Some also cost more than others. The Bri codestone is usually less than the others. Don't beg other players for codestones or nepoints. This is frowned upon and may even get you banned from the site or your account frozen if the person you ask reports you. They are not the most expensive items on the site, and a few hours of effort in earning neopoints through games or selling items should provide you with enough.
