How to See If Someone Is Blocking You on Yahoo Messenger

A popular competitor to AIM, MSN Messenger and Facebook Chat, the Yahoo Messenger allows you to send messages to friends and family online. Similar to the classic AOL concept of creating screen names and sending short typed messages, Yahoo Messenger also allows you to block others from chatting with you or knowing that you are online. This also means that you can be blocked yourself, but there are ways of finding out if someone is blocking you.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Sign on to your Yahoo Messenger account and add the person to your list of friends. Check randomly to see if they are online at different times. If they are not, and you expect them to be, they may be blocking you.

  2. Step 2

Access the Yahoo Messenger homepage with your Internet browser and click "Sign Up" at the top right of the page.

  3. Step 3

Follow the sign up steps and enter your Yahoo e-mail address and your new account name and password.

  4. Step 4

Log on to your new Yahoo Messenger account.

  5. Step 5

Add your friend from your other account to the new account's friend list, and if they are online, check back with your other name. If they do not appear online with the other name, they are blocking you.
