How to Prevent Sewer Odors When Camping in RV

Easy way to keep sewer odors our of your RV when camping or traveling.

Things You'll Need:

• Powdered Laundry Detergent

1. If your toilet in your RV doesn't hold water or is drained while traveling this will help eliminate odors that can come back in from the reserve tanks. Use this for black or grey water holding tanks. Spray water in the bowl and let drain completely.

2. While still wet, sprinkle about 1/2 cup of Powdered Laundry Detergent in the bowl if using it in your toilet.

3. If using it in your shower or sink, put the drain plug in. Allow about 1/4 cup of water to remain in either. Pour about 1/4 to 1/2 cup Powdered Laundry Detergent on top of the water and plug. After doing this you will have a temporary seal between your holding tank and your RV. You will no longer smell odors from the reserve tanks, but instead smell a wonderful smell of your choosing.

4. When ready to use, use your sprayer to break up the detergent well then drain.

Tips & Warnings

• You can use any Laundry Detergent of your choice. I prefer GAIN because it leaves a lasting scent of your choosing and will last longer and smell better than any other I have tried.
• DO NOT flush solid chunks of detergent down your toilet or drain. First dissolve with sprayer then flush or drain it. It will continue to help keep your grey and black waste water tanks fresh smelling each time you use it.
