This is how to make the great American Classic Apple Pie with a twist. It's upside-down!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 10-15 Granny Smith Apples
  • 1/2 Cup Flour
  • 2 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp Nutmeg
  • 2 Cups Sugar
  • 1 LB Brown Sugar
  • 1 LB Butter
  • 1/2 LB Chopped Walnuts
  • 2 Premade Pie Shells THAWED
  • Sheet of Wax Paper
  • Cookie Sheet
  1. Step 1

First preheat your oven to 325 degrees.

  2. Step 2

Take the 10-15 Granny Smith Apples and peel them and slice them thin. Then take the apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, and white sugar and combine them and set this aside.

  3. Step 3

Next combine the Brown Sugar, Butter, and Chopped Walnuts, then side this mixture aside.

  4. Step 4

Take the wax paper and put in on the bottom of the pie pan. Place the Walnut mixture on top of the wax paper spread out. Then place 1 of the premade THAWED pie crusts on top of the nut mixture.

  5. Step 5

Add the seasoned apples on top of the pie crust piling high and over filling. Then take the remaining pie crust and put it on top of the apples.

  6. Step 6

Bake in the oven on a cookie sheet (to catch spillage) at 325 degrees for 1 hour (60 minutes). LET THIS COOL FIRST then flip the pie over onto another cookie sheet or tray. Take off the pie tin and the wax paper and there you have your Upside-Down Apple Pie!

Tips & Warnings
  • Serve with Ice cream or Whipped Cream, or both and add some more chopped nuts as a garnish.
  • Reheat in the microwave if you wish for about 90 seconds.
