A motorcycle rider with a GPS will be able to find his way in unfamiliar areas and will be able to avoid traffic jams. GPS units come with windshield suction mounts which don't work on motorcycles. A handle bar mount is needed to install a GPS on a motorcycle. Handlebar GPS mounts can be found at local electronic retailers. The mount should be specific to the GPS model being installed. It can be installed in less than an hour.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • GPS Handlebar Mount Kit with Cradle
  • Wrench
  1. Step 1

Unscrew the nuts from the end of the u-bolt.

  2. Step 2

Decide where the GPS will be mounted, and position the u-bolt around the handlebar in that location.

  3. Step 3

Place the handlebar mount on top of the u-bolt with the GPS cradle facing the rider. The ends of the u-bolt should be threaded into the holes on the base of the handlebar mount.

  4. Step 4

Screw the nuts onto the end of the u-bolt by hand, and tighten with a wrench. This will secure the handlebar mount to the handlebar. Place the black rubber caps over the ends of the u-bolt.

  5. Step 5

Snap the GPS into the cradle located on the top of the handlebar mount. Adjust the GPS cradle by turning the black plastic screw located on the side of the mount. Move the GPS to the desired position and secure it in place by tightening the screw.

Tips & Warnings
  • A safety lanyard can be attached to the GPS to protect it if it ever falls out of the cradle.
  • Do not install the GPS where it will obstruct the view of the rider, or interfere with the motorcycle gauges.
