How to make a delicious lemon pound cake

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon lemon extract
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 cup sprite
  1. Step 1

    You will need a large mixing bowl. You will add the butter, sugar, and shortening. You will need to beat this ingredients together until the mixture is light and fluffy. Then you will need to add the eggs one at a time. You will need to beat the mixture between the addition of each of the eggs.

  2. Step 2

    Then you will add in the lemon and vanilla extract. Then you will need to add the flour and sprite a little at a time. First add a little flour then a little sprite. Then you will need to beat the mixture. You will need to repeat the process between each addition of flour and sprite.

  3. Step 3

    Then you will need to grease and flour a 10 inch fluted tube pan. Then pour the batter in. Then bake on 325 degrees for one hour or until you insert a toothpick into the center of the cake and it comes out clean. Then allow to cool for a half hour before removing from the pan and then allow to finish cooling on a wire rack. You can then dust the cool cake with powdered sugar if you choose.
