Keep your dog safe & cool

Summer days can not only be hard on us, they can be very difficult on our dogs and pets. Let me share a few tips on how to keep your dog safe, cool and happy this summer!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Plenty of Water!!
  1. Step 1

First step in keeping your dog safe is to make sure they always have plenty of water. We keep our dog bowl full of water all day long. It is also wise to keep one outside as well, during the warm moths.

  2. Step 2

If you do not need to bring you dog in the car, during the very warm days, don't. Never keep the window rolled up, if you go into a store. Do not leave your dog in the car for any length of time, again, simply leave your dog in the nice cool air conditioned House! Keep him/her safe!

  3. Step 3

While it's important to keep letting your dog outside to go potty, Monitor their time outside. Do Not leave them outside for long periods of time. A good 15 minutes gives them plenty of time to potty. We have bulldogs, who have a difficult time in hot weather. We have a small baby swimming pool we fill and let them jump in and cool off. If doing this, make sure the water level is low, You do not want to take any chances on drowning, but a nice couple of inches of water is just enough to keep them cool, safe.... and enough to have fun at the same time!!

Tips & Warnings
  • During warm months, leave your pets at home, instead of bringing them with you in the car!
  • If you do need to bring a pet in the car, do not leave them for any length of time.
  • keep the window cracked open for air circulation.
  • If filling a baby pool for them, only fill it with a few inches of water-
  • If you will still be taking your dog on a walk, during hot days, make the walks a bit shorter than normal, bring water with....and give your dog PLENTY of water on the return home!
