Enjoy the wonderful dessert of fondue. If you have never tried a chocolate fondue you are in for a real treat. The next time you face the dilemma of what dessert to make, you may decide to give chocolate fondue a whirl.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 12 ounces [340 g] semisweet chocolate chips or sweet cooking chocolate
  • 1/2 cup [1.2 dl] half-and-half (cream and whole milk)
  1. Step 1

The first thing you will need to do is melt the chocolate in a saucepan. Add the remaining ingredient. Continue to stir until the mixture is thickened. Then place the chocolate mixture to a fondue pot, and keep it warm over a very low-heat source.

  2. Step 2

As the excitement begins to mount, and your mouth begins to water, one more thing to top if off. If you are feeling adventurous, before you begin enjoying your fondue, you may want to stir in two teaspoons of instant coffee or one quarter teaspoon of cinnamon. If the chocolate mixture is too thin, you will need to simply add more chocolate. If it is too thick, thin it out with a little milk at a time, until consistency is where you would like.

  3. Step 3

If you planning on dipping fruit into your fondue, sprinkle the fruit with lemon juice mixed with water. This will keep your fruit dippers from turning dark.

  4. Step 4

If you are using an electric fondue pot or a stove top-safe fondue pot, you may prepare and serve in the same pot. Place the fondue pot in the center of the table within easy reach of everyone. One pot serves six to eight persons. Enjoy the fun of fondue and never throw away your leftover sauce.

Tips & Warnings
  • If for some crazy reason you still have sauce left over, it makes an excellent topping for ice cream. Just put the remainder of the sauce into the refrigerator for use later on.
