Step 1
Use "The Bartender's Black Book" to find drink recipes. This highly rated book lists almost 3,000 different drink recipes. You'll also be taught the proper way to make these drinks. The book even contains a glossary of terms that can be useful for a beginner. "The Bartender's Black Book" can be purchased in chain book stores as well as online. (See Resources.)
-
Step 2
Visit the Webtender website. (See Resources.) This website allows you to browse for drink recipes by the name of the drink as well as search through an index of different drinks in order to find one you want to try. You can also type in the contents of your own personal "bar" and Webtender will recommend a drink or drinks that you can make.
-
Step 3
Go to the Drinks Mixer homepage. (See Resources.) This website has a search engine that gives you the option of looking for drink recipes via drink names. You can also search for drink recipes by clicking the category links on the left side of the page. These categories include "unconventional" drink recipes, such as drinks that include beer, as well as nonalcoholic drinks.
-
Step 4
Look for drink recipes on Bargeek. (See Resources.) This website is perfect if you're looking for basic cocktail recipes. Drinks are listed alphabetically and can be found by clicking the "Drink Recipes" tab in the middle of the page. However, the website's list of drinks is somewhat smaller than that of Webtender or Drinks Mixer.
-
Step 5
Search for drink recipes on the Your Next Drink search engine. (See Resources.) Also known as "Droogle" (the words "drink" and "Google" combined), this website allows you to find numerous different drink recipes posted by users like you. When you enter the name of the drink into the engine, several different recipes for that drink will be listed on the next page. Much like Webtender, you can also find drink recipes based upon your alcohol collection by clicking the "My Cabinet" option.
