How to Buy a Used Mac Laptop
Apple is well-known for creating quality products. While some people would not recommend purchasing used laptops, Macs have a reputation for their durability and usability. Because Apple offers a transferable three-year warranty that can be purchased anytime during the first year of the original purchase, you can often find decent Mac laptops that are still under warranty.

Know what kind of Mac laptop you want to purchase. Apple has a wide variety of laptop styles, such as the MacBook, the MacBook Pro and the MacBook Air. Before shopping for a laptop, decide what you need in a laptop. The MacBook is a laptop designed for standard home use; the MacBook Pro is designed for professional designers who need more memory and larger screens; and the MacBook Air is extremely thin and light, making it extremely portable. Review the different specs for the current laptops to ensure that you are getting a good deal when you find a used laptop.

Purchase a Mac laptop on eBay. eBay is probably the most common place to find a used Mac Laptop. Go to eBay.com. Navigate through the menu to "Home>Buy>Computers & Networking>Apple Computers>Apple Laptops." Read through the ads carefully. If the laptop that you want to purchase is being auctioned, enter the amount you are willing to spend in the "Your max bid:" box and press "Place Bid." This will place your bid at the current bidding status until someone else places a higher bid. Repeat this process until you have won the item. If the item has a "Buy it now" button, you can purchase the item for the asking price.

Purchase a Mac laptop from a public classified ad. Craigslist and other local classified websites are also popular ways to purchase a used laptop. You can often find a seller that lives in the same vicinity as you, so you can inspect the laptop for damage before purchasing the product. In addition to classifieds, universities often have bulletin boards where students can post items for sale.

Purchase a Mac laptop from a retailer. Although they are usually more expensive than those on eBay and in classified ads, a retail store is usually a safer purchase. Most retailers provide a guarantee on the laptop. The easiest way to find a retailer for pre-owned Mac laptops is through online stores such as The Mac Store. You can also find select retail stores; however, they are not very common. See the references section for a list a of retail stores in the United States.
