Free web content cuts down on the initial work of building a web site. You may want to have several niche sites or blogs but you don't feel that you can keep up with all of the work. Use free content to drive web site traffic but use it sparingly so you don't have duplicate content issues that can affect your search engine ranking.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find stock photos. Stock photos add color to free web content. These photos usually just require that you link to the artist or put an attribution license on the work. The downside of these photos is that they aren't specific to a detailed project or idea because they are made to appeal to a wide audience. You may find that when creating content for a web site your articles and e-books look more professional with pictures. It's considered good form to leave a comment on the picture to let the photographer know how and where you used their photograph.

  2. Step 2

Install news feeds. RSS feeds will update dynamically letting your readers know the latest in what is happening in a certain niche. Too many news feeds can make your pages look like spam and make your site appear that it doesn't have unique content. RSS feeds are a great solution to add to blog posts because you won't have to go back and constantly update what is happening in the world.

  3. Step 3

Use affiliate programs. Affiliate programs often provide pictures and product information. Some affiliates will give you the option of showing related products which will cut down on your work. Some drop shippers provide titles and descriptions that you can use for free when posting a product. Google frowns upon duplicate content so beef up and change the description while still giving accurate details about the product.

  4. Step 4

Post copyright free articles. There are several article sites where writers can contribute their content for free. Website owners can republish the work on their own sites. The terms usually include that you have to publish the entire article without changes and that you have to keep a link to the site and the writer's links must remain in the post to use it for free. There may be other restrictions such as how many articles you can post per year on a domain name and what kind of site it can be posted on. You may come up with duplicate or supplemental results in search engines if you use this approach too often. Elaborate on the web site content writing by adding your own thoughts or an introduction if the TOS of the free article allows it.

  5. Step 5

Barter. You may be able to trade services with web writers who need a site built, a free product, or a logo designed in order to get unique free website content.
