Things You'll Need:
- Towels
- Dog shampoo
- kitchen sink sprayer or plastic cup
-
Step 1
Wear a shirt you don’t mind getting a little wet.
-
Step 2
Put your towels and dog shampoo beside the kitchen sink within easy reach.
-
Step 3
Run the sink water until it’s warm (not hot or cold). Be sure the water coming out of the sprayer is warm and the water pressure is gentle. If you don’t have a sprayer, you can use a plastic cup.
-
Step 4
Place your dog inside the sink while speaking nicely and offering praise. Be sure this is always a positive experience.
-
Step 5
Wet your dog by gently spraying warm water onto him. Hold the sprayer close to his skin so you don’t spray his face. And don’t get water inside your dog’s ears!
-
Step 6
Using the shampoo, lather your dog, and massage it gently into his skin and fur. Again, offer praise so it’s a positive experience. Be sure you don’t get shampoo in your dog’s eyes!
-
Step 7
Rinse your dog by spraying warm water onto him (or use your plastic cup). Rinse until all of the shampoo is gone. Rinse with fresh water – not dirty water.
-
Step 8
Using the towels, dry off your dog. Give him a treat and lots of praise. Keep him indoors until he’s dry so he doesn’t get dirty outside while wet. He might run around the house like crazy. This is normal for some dogs after a bath and is quite entertaining.
