Although the predisposition to baldness is often genetic, simple steps can be taken to reduce, delay, or eliminate hair loss.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

At the first sign of any hair loss, wear a light-weight, white or light-colored hat during the summer to protect your hair and scalp from sun damage. This is particularly necessary for anyone who spends a lot of time outdoors in direct sunlight either at work (i.e. lifeguards, landscapers, summer camp counselors, roofers, construction workers) or on the beach on a regular basis. Sun damage to your hair and scalp can cause it to fall out unnecessarily.

  2. Step 2

Eat a healthy, well-balanced diet that includes adequate protein which is essential to maintaining healthy hair.

  3. Step 3

DO NOT consume raw eggs. They block biotin absorption. Biotin might prevent hair loss in some men.

  4. Step 4

Take 100 milligrams of supplemental biotin daily.

  5. Step 5

Use biotin shampoo to wash your hair.

  6. Step 6

Avoid stress and emotional upset as much as possible. It can lead to unnecessary hair loss. Remind yourself not to worry by telling yourself, "Whatever my problems are, being bald isn't going to help anything."
