Things You'll Need:
- 20 tablespoons fresh rosemary
- 20 tablespoons of fresh lavender flowers
- 10 tablespoons neem oil
- 10 tablespoons sweet almond oil
- towel or shower cap
- 6 cloves garlic minced
- 2 tablespoons tea tree essential oil
- pestle and mortar
- pan
- bottle
- shampoo
- conditioner
- nit comb
-
Step 1
Make sure you actually have lice. Head lice are over diagnosed. Check your scalp for itchy red bumps. Look for live lice in your hair and louse eggs. Louse eggs are attached to the hair shaft near the root. If you simply have white flakes on your scalp but not on the shaft and see no live lice, you have dandruff not lice.
-
Step 2
Put half of the rosemary and lavender in a pestle along with a few tablespoons of almond oil. Crush it in the mortar and pestle. The oil will make it a little easier to crush. When your done dump it into a pan and put the other half of lavender and rosemary into the pestle and crush again like you did the first batch. When it's done dump that into a pan.
-
Step 3
Add remaining almond oil, neem oil and garlic to the pan with the crushed herbs.
-
Step 4
Turn the heat on low and heat the mixture gently for 20 minutes. The heat helps release the medicinal properties in the herbs that will help get rid of lice.
-
Step 5
Strain the oil to remove the herbs.
-
Step 6
Add tea tree oil.
-
Step 7
Store in a clean bottle.
-
Step 8
Apply the mixture to dry hair. Make sure the hair and scalp are completely covered in the oil.
-
Step 9
Cover your head with a towel or shower cap and leave it on for an hour. If you can, you should leave it on overnight this will ensure that you really do get rid of lice.
-
Step 10
Shampoo twice to wash out the oil.
-
Step 11
Put conditioner on your hair and use a nit comb to comb it through.
-
Step 12
Rinse your hair thoroughly.
-
Step 13
Repeat the treatment a week later. This will kill any newly hatched lice that you might have missed the first time.
-
Step 14
Comb your hair with a nit comb every 3 days until there are no signs of lice.
