Do you have a pot bellied pig? They can be wonderful domesticated pets and are surprisingly easy to care for. This article will emphasise the important aspects of care for your pig.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • damp washcloth, Vaseline type lotion, hoof trimmers or sheet metal snips
  1. Step 1

The first and a very important grooming tip is to keep your pigs eyes clean. Thery have eyelashes that curl inside their eyes and can cause irritation and fluid to drain off. You need to frequently inspect the lashes and make sure they are not poking into the eye. If they are you can easily manipulate them out. You then want to wife and drainage off with a clean damp washcloth.

  2. Step 2

Another important grooming tip is keeping your pig's ears clean. This can also be accomplished with a damp washcloth and should be cleaned regularly. You will see a crusty buildup on the entire inside of the ear which can be easily wiped out.

  3. Step 3

During the hot months you pig will shed their coarse hair. When this happens their skin becomes very dry and can crack. Pigs skin needs to be moisturized and can be done with any type of lotion.

  4. Step 4

Lastly, your pig's hooves need to be regularly trimmed. There are special hoof trimmer you can buy, however I have found that sheet metal snips work great. You can feel the soft pad on the underside of the hoof and do not want to get to close to that. You can determine the length of the hoof by the pad and trim accordingly.
