Remember the higher the elevation the lower the level of oxygen.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Avoid smoking, this decreases your oxygen level along with the higher elevation could make breathing very difficult. If you have breathing difficulties or any lung condition, avoid traveling to the mountain and desert areas.

  2. Step 2

Avoid drinking alcohol as this could affect your coordination, cut back on caffeine such as tea and coffee. Do drink plenty of water and stay well hydrated as the higher altitudes have less moisture in the air. You will need to drink enough water so that your urine runs clear to avoid altitude sickness.

  3. Step 3

Make sure you have plenty of rest and are well nourished, an extremely healthy body could adjust much better than an unhealthy one. This step is number one in helping to cure altitude sickness.
