This is an excellent treat to give to your dog when left alone for awhile. They help to prevent boredom and also assist with separation anxiety. The filling lasts and takes a dog longer to finish than most other treats.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Kong or other hollow toy or bone
  • Peanut Butter (Creamy only)
  • Dog food or small kibble
  1. Step 1

Dogs up to 20lbs do best with small kongs
    Dogs 20-35lbs medium kong
    Dogs 35-65lbs large kong
    Dogs 65-90lbs x-tra large kong
Dogs 90+lbs do best with XXL kongs

  2. Step 2

In cup or bowl, mix creamy peanut butter (for small kong or toy, no more than 1 teaspoon; for x-tra large kong or other hollow toy, no more than four teaspoons) with some dry food or kibble (enough so that the mixture is mainly kibble). Mix well.

  3. Step 3

Stuff mixture of P.B. and kibble into kong or other hollow items such as marrow bones so that atleast half of kong is full of mixture.

  4. Step 4

Place item stuffed with mixture in freezer type bag and seal.

  5. Step 5

Place bag with treat in freezer and freeze for minimum of four(4) hours, but can be left in freezer until needed.

Tips & Warnings
  • It's a great idea to make several of these at a time so that you always have on hand.
  • These treats also work as a great distraction during stressful situations for your dog as they are irresistably delicious!!!!
  • You do not have to fill the entire kong, it is best to fill it only half way so that the dog must work harder to empty the kong or hollowed bone
  • Do not give these more than once a day as too much peanut butter can potentially cause diarrhea in dogs.
