How to keep the dander down from your cockatiel, and make his feathers easier to preen.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • dollar store spray bottle
  • bird cleansing spray
  • vinager
  • warm water
  • bird bath
  1. Step 1

Mix or apply your bird cleansing solution to bird bath per instructions that come with the brand you buy. Usually you mix it with warm water.
Put the warm water in the bird bath and let your bird play in the bath for half an hour. Use the bath once a week in the winter and three times a week in the summer.

  2. Step 2

One day a week use 1/2 teaspoon of vineger with warm water and put in sprayer bottle. Remove all food and water from bird cage. Spray your bird until a fine mist is on the feathers, do not soak the bird. Rinse your spray bottle out and do not save the mixture in it.

  3. Step 3

The other days use warm water in your spray bottle, once again remove food and water so you do not get food wet or get contaminated dander in drinking water. Lightly mist feathers.

Tips & Warnings
  • Never spray cold water on your bird or directly spray vinegar solution in or toward the eyes.
  • If your bird picks at its feathers after the cockatiel cleansing solution is appllied do not apply anymore, bird may be allergic to it, stop use of it immediately, if bird has difficulty breathing or wheezes call vet right away.
