Step 1
Connect the network cable that came with the wireless router from your computer to one of the ports on your wireless router.
Open an Internet browser window and type 192.168.1.1 into the address window to access the router configuration page.
A dialogue box will appear asking for a username and password. Here are a list of the common IP addresses to access the router configuration page from the browser and the username and passwords.

D-Link http://192.168.0.1 admin (leave blank)
Linksys http://192.168.1.1 admin Admin
Netgear http://192.168.0.1 admin password
Once you have access to the router configuration page you will want to edit three settings. (1) The wireless name (SSID), (2) Enable Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 (WPA2) and (3) set your administrative password (the password that allows access to your router). -
Step 2
In the Wireless tab under Basic Wireless settings you will be able to name your network. Be sure to save your settings.
Enable WPA2 under wireless settings or wireless security and setup a password that will be used to gain access to the router. Save the settings.
You are now ready to disconnect your network cable from your computer and connect wirelessly.
To connect wirelessly right click the wireless network icon in the lower right system tray (or double click) and select view available wireless networks. -
Step 3
Once the networks appear highlight your network and select connect in the lower right corner of the screen.
You will be required to enter a key. Enter the key (password) you setup earlier and click connect.
You are now connected.
