Sauce pan with butter on low

To start the sauce put 1 stick of butter or margarine in a pot and cover over low heat until it melts it down, make sure to not turn off the stove after it melts.

  2. Step 2

Add a half a teaspoon of Nutmeg, a teaspoon of vanilla and the bottle of honey.

  3. Step 3

Add the orange zest from 2 oranges, if you don't have a zester you can use a paring knife and scrape some skin off the orange. If you see too much white rind coming off the orange, scrape the peel lighter.

  4. Step 4

Increase the heat to medium until it starts to boil melting the rind.

  5. Step 5

Add the box of brown sugar in the mixture and stir it well.

  6. Step 6

Then you are ready to add it to the ham, you can do it with a baster or anyway that you like to. I usually just pore it over it and save a little for after I take it out of the oven. Enjoy!

Tips & Warnings
  • This mixture will be thick when done and should be poured over the ham in the last hour of cooking.
  • This is very hot when its done please be careful as the mixture of the honey and sugar can burn skin easily.
