This article will show a person how to make the "smoky eye" look the right way. This look has been demonstrated by many celebrities, including Avril Lavigne, Keira Knightley, and Lindsay Lohan.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Black Eyeliner (pencil)
  • Black Eyeshadow
  • Grey Eyeshadow
  • White Eyeshadow
  • Mascara
  1. Step 1

Start off by applying eyeliner to the bottom lid of your eyes. Do not apply to the top eyelid, because it will only cause your eyes to look gaudy.

  2. Step 2

Apply white or light eyeshadow from the base of your eyebrow down to where the top of your eyeball is. Trace the shape of your eyebrow beneath it and go all the way down.

  3. Step 3

Apply black eyeshadow on the regular part of your eyelid. This would be the part of the eyelid that begins right at the eyelashes and ends at the crease where your eyeball ends.

  4. Step 4

Using the very tip of your applicator, apply the grey eyeshadow on your lower eye where the eyeliner is, right beneath your eyelashes.

  5. Step 5

Apply mascara to the TOP LASHES ONLY. This makes the look more sophisticated and less like you're trying TOO hard to impress.

Tips & Warnings
  • Liquid eyeliner is messy. Go with a regular pencil.
  • Don't apply eyeliner to the top lid. It will look horrible.
  • Don't apply mascara to the bottom lashes unless you want to look bug-eyed.
  • Don't go too far out with the makeup. The eyeshadow and eyeliner should all end where the corner of your eye ends.
