Many of us have bread machines that we just don't use. Perhaps it is because we don't have any good recipes or because pre-made bread machine mixes are expensive and difficult to find. I have wonderful bread recipe for you that will have you blowing the dust off of your bread machine.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 cup room temperature water
  • 1/4 cup cracked wheat
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbls. Olive Oil
  • 3 cups bread flower
  • 1/2 cup Jarred parmesan cheese
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast or bread machine yeast.
  1. Step 1

In a small saucepan bring the water to a boil. Remove from heat. Stir in the cracked wheat and let it stand for 3 minutes. Drain the water out of the wheat.

  2. Step 2

Add the drained cracked wheat and the remaining ingredients to your bread machine. Use your machine according to its manufacturers directions and use your basic white bread cycle.

  3. Step 3

Allow you bread machine to do the rest of the work for you, and remove from bread oven.

  4. Step 4

Allow the bread to stand for at least 1/2 hour to let it cool before cutting.

  5. Step 5

Serve with an Italian meal or with any dinner. This is a dinner worthy bread, and goes great with salad as well.

Tips & Warnings
  • Your bread machine must have at least a 10 cup capacity to make this recipe. If you have a smaller machine cut the recipe in half and place the half you are not cooking in a glass bowl, and cover with plastic wrap. Leave it at room temperature and cook it in your bread oven as soon as the first loaf is done.
  • Don't cut bread to soon. Allow it to cool.
  • Be careful when removing bread from machine it might be hot.
