The first step to being more optimistic every day is to focus on your positive accomplishments instead of your shortcomings. When you focus on what you did right, as opposed to what did not go your way then you will feel better about yourself every day. When you focus only on what you did not accomplish, you will always feel like you came up short no matter how well you did. To have a more positive outlook focus on what you have done right.

The second step to being more optimistic every day is to associate yourself with positive people. When you associate with positive people this will give you a more positive attitude as well. When you associate yourself with negative people, their attitude is going to remind you of your own short comings and bring you down. To keep a positive outlook try and keep friends that also have a positive outlook.

The third step is to find a positive in every situation. Your reactions to events can have a huge determination on your outlook on life. If you view a situation as a defeat, then it is a defeat. If you find a positive outlook on any situation, then it can be a positive experience, no matter what the situation was. For example, if you lose money in the stock market instead of thinking that you just wasted your money on bad investments, take the knowledge you have learned to make better investments next time. By thinking this way you can take the loss in the market as a positive experience, and this will improve your optimism if you can find the positive in any situation.
