Children often go through crayons quickly, wearing them down and breaking them into smaller pieces. One way to salvage these bits of crayons is to melt them. You can melt crayons in the oven to create new, multi-colored crayon pieces that are large enough for even young children to use. You also can create a work of art by melting crayon pieces and shavings with an iron. These activities are fun for children to do with adult supervision, and they reduce the amount of waste that you create.
