An easy and effective way to help ease your babies gas pains using a rectal thermometer

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • rectal thermometer
  • baby wipes
  1. Step 1

If your baby is acting fussy from gas pains, there is an easy remedy to help them release some gas which will ease their pain. First lay your baby down as if you were going to change their diaper. Undo their diaper. I recommend leaving the diaper underneath them or placing a towel under them as they may make a mess.

  2. Step 2

Next hold the babies legs up as you were wiping their bottom with a wipe. Take a clean rectal thermometer and place the tip at the entrance of their rectum. You only need to insert a little ways. Then move the thermometer in a circular motion. This will most likely cause them to have a bowel movement and expel gas.

  3. Step 3

This should give them some immediate relief. My grandmother taught me this trick. Whenever my daughter was fussy from gas pains I would do this and she always perked up right away!

Tips & Warnings
  • Please make sure not to insert the thermometer very far into the rectum.
