Scheduling your life around your favorite cable TV show or bursting into tears over a broken DVR is no longer necessary. It is now possible to watch many cable TV shows online for free, at your convenience, from virtually anywhere. All you have to do is complete a few simple steps, and you'll be watching cable TV online through your computer's internet connection in no time!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide which shows you would like to watch online and determine what network cable channel owns the show. For example, some popular cable stations include TLC, MTV, ESPN and Nickelodeon.

  2. Step 2

Find the site that will allow you to watch the show online. This can be done in one of two ways. You can either go directly to the network's website to see if they show full episodes on the site, or you could try some other third-party sites like Hulu.com that offer a wide variety of shows from various networks that can be watched online for free.

  3. Step 3

Find the technical requirements for the particular site you have chosen, and make sure you have all the necessary software installed on your computer. If you are using an up-to-date web browser, you may not need to download anything at all, but sometimes a specific media player or browser plugin will need to be downloaded in order to watch the show.

  4. Step 4

Select the show and begin watching. Each site is a little different in terms of how you actually go about watching the show, but most will have specific step by step instructions on how to do it somewhere on the page.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you find that you are watching most of your TV online, it may be a wise financial decision to reduce or eliminate the cable TV in your house.
  • Not all cable television shows are available to be viewed online. Most networks will only show episodes that have previously been aired or have a limited selection of episodes available for each show.
