How to Make a Walk in The Park Baby Quilt
A walk in the park baby quilt serves as an ideal gift for a baby shower, or as blanket for your own baby. Making your own quilt allows you to customize the patterns, designs and colors, creating a unique blanket. You or your friend will be able to appreciate your work every day, as you can use it for bedding and carrying the baby, and as a wall decoration when the baby is older.

1
Sew the five strips of fabric together into a rectangle, along the 44-inch sides. Give the strips of material seams of 1/4 inch. Press all the seams in the same direction.
-
2
Cut the rectangle of material into 4 inch strips. Each strip should contain all five designs of fabric.
-
3
Sew two strips together on the 44-inch sides. Sew them in the opposite direction as before, so the ends do not match. Leave 4 inches of fabric loose on each end. Repeat this with the remaining three strips. Press all the seams in the same direction.
-
4
Trim the spare 4 inches of material from both sides of the quilt. This will result with an even square of material.
-
5
Cut the border fabric into four strips, measuring 3 inches by 44 inches. Sew two of the strips onto the square, on the opposite sides of each other. Trim the ends so the strips are the same length as the quilt.
-
6
Sew the second two strips to the remaining sides of the quilt. Sew seams of 1/4 inch and press them away from the center of the quilt.
-
7
Place the batting on the back of the backing fabric. Lay the top of the quilt face-up on the batting. Make sure all the layers are centered and that you can see the batting on all four sides. Attach the three layers to each other using the basting spray or pins.
-
8
Stitch in the ditch along the lines on the top of the quilt and along the inside of the border. Trim the backing fabric so it is 1 1/2 inches longer than the quilt on all the sides.
-
9
Fold 1/2 inch of the back fabric over the batting, on every side, and iron it down. Fold the remaining batting over the top of the quilt.
-
10
Edge stitch along the back fabric to the top of the quilt. Repeat this with the opposite side before sewing the other two sides.
