You can give your blonde hair that fresh-from-the-beach sun kissed look with lemon juice! Using lemon juice to lighten your hair or to give it blonde streaks and highlights is a quick, easy and cheap alternative to expensive hair products. And lemon juice is natural too!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • lemon juice
  1. Step 1

BUY LEMON JUICE -- You can buy real lemon if you prefer, but it's cheaper and easier if you buy a bottle of lemon juice. Sometimes you can find lemon juice in your grocery store near the actual lemons. But there will be bigger bottles (and less expensive brands) in the juice aisle. Buy real lemon juice and not a lemonade type drink.

  2. Step 2

LIGHTEN YOUR HAIR -- Shampoo and condition your hair as you normally would. After your hair is rinsed wring out all the excess water. Then pour about 1/2 cup to 1 cup (depending on the length of your hair) of pure lemon juice onto your hair. Work it through your hair and do not rinse. Towel dry or blow dry as usual. Do this after every shampoo and your hair will naturally turn lighter over a short period of time.

  3. Step 3

HIGHLIGHT YOUR HAIR -- If you want some sun kissed streaks in your hair follow all the steps above but when you add the lemon juice just add it to certain sections of your hair. And you will need to add the lemon juice to the same sections after each shampoo so it's best to comb out your wet hair then add the lemon juice to the section with a cotton ball. Then dry your hair as normal.

  4. Step 4

LET THE SUN HELP -- If you are going to be in the sun for a bit you can apply the lemon juice to your dry hair and let the sun help the lightening process. Simply spray all your hair or pick certain sections and spray just the sections. Repeated use will have your hair lightened or highlighted in no time!
