Fried Zucchini flowers

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Paper towels
  • frying pan
  • 2 cups of vegetable oil (canola or sunflower)
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1 cup of all purpose flour
  1. Step 1

    Wash the zucchini flowers with water and let them dry, on a clean cloth or paper towel.

  2. Step 2

    Mix water and flour , adding the water a little at a time to prevent clumps.

  3. Step 3

    Heat the oil in a wide-deep frying pan until gets hot.

  4. Step 4

    Coat the zucchini flowers with the batter.

  5. Step 5

    Plunge the flowers into the boiling oil, 5-6 at a time, or you can try just one to see how will came out and make adjustment on time. usually the darker the crispier, but make sure do not burn them

  6. Step 6

    wait until they emerge from the oil and become golden.
    Remove them with a fork or a skimmer and let them dry out on the paper towels.

  7. Step 7

    Salt and pepper them right away, the zucchini flowers taste better 1-2 minutes after removed from the pan and are still crisp.

  8. Step 8

    If you want to eat them all together pre heat the oven at 180 degrees and keep them warm until you are ready to serve them.

  • Be careful with the hot oil and kids around you

on 11/2/2009 Yes your article tells how to fix an unusual food from your garden. We like them and we also fry slices of cucumbers, onions and okra to enhance the blossoms with different tastes and color. I have used pancake batter when I'm in a hurry and had good results.
