How to Change home Light Fixtures

Change light fixtures in house kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, dinning rooms, living rooms or family rooms.

Instructions

1. Purchase identical new light fixture and remove from box. Have flashlight available in case its a dark rainy day and visibility will be reduced inside the house.

2. Cut-off main power to house to make sure no electricity is flowing. Leave light switch on in the room you're changing fixture so when you kill the power no light will be on. Double check to make sure no power is energize before working on any light fixture.

3. Remove existing fixture cover, remove the two screws holding the fixture on the wall. Make sure you hold onto the fixture when removing the final screw. Should be 3 or 4 wires holding the fixture now. Remove wire connector by rotating counterclockwise. Reconnect red wire to red, blue to blue and white to white. There will be a green wire for grounding to frame. Remove and re-install green wire to fixture or frame metal similar to existing.

Tips & Warnings

• Re-install wire connectors and push all wires into wall opening during fixture mounting.

• Always cut-off main power before working on light fixtures.
