Create user accounts on EBay and Craigslist.
EBay is best for more unique items, and presents items for sale to a larger market. However, EBay charges a fee to sell on their site and buyers have to pay for shipping which lowers the amount a buyer is willing to pay before shipping. Craigslist is free local classified ads. Craigslist doesn't charge a listing fee, and because its local people can pick up items in person, so no shipping charges, which means more money in your pocket!

      Find Something to sell!
Look around the house for things you no longer use or need. Remember the old saying "one mans trash is another mans treasure." Items you may consider worthless may hold some value to others; such as clothes that no longer fit, old car parts, old jewelry, electronic game systems, and ect.

      Nothing left to sell?
There's going to be a point where you run out of items to sell. At this point if you want to continue selling for profit your going to have to find items to sell. Check local yard sales for under priced items you can make a profit on. A good time to buy at yard sales is on Saturday afternoon, this is when the sale is winding down and people sometimes are willing to sell items cheap to just get rid of them, and not have to put items back up. Another good place to find items to sell is at your local salvation army stores and goodwill stores. Don't feel bad for buying items to resale here, they need to sell those items too because the money they make goes to support local needy families.

      Go Big Time!!
Now that you have a couple dollars in your pocket your ready to go big time. One way to make some serious money is in mechanical parts. You can buy large items such as cars and break them down to sell the parts individually. You neighbor may have an old car for $300, lets say the transmission in shot and its going to cost $2000 dollars to fix it. Forget the transmission, buy the car and part it out on eBay. When sold separately the headlights, wheels, tail lights, motor parts, hood, fenders, motor, ect. will bring a much larger profit than a broke down used car. This can be done with lawn mowers, boats, motorcycles, anything!

Next time your walking through Walmart or any other stores keep man eye out for discounted/clearance items. If you can get these items at a good price they are a great way to buy for resale. Save your receipt, the best part about getting items this way is that if you have a hard time selling them you can just return them to the store for a refund. No Risk!!

Tips & Warnings

  • Never be afraid to negotiate when purchasing anything. Even large stores can negotiate if you talk to a manager.

  • If you don't know the value of an item find out before you buy. You can look on eBay at past auctions to see about what anything is worth.
