Not every season is great for planting new grass seed in your lawn. The first step is to ensure your environment will support new growth this means generally early spring or middle of the fall where you have sun and rain but not too much heat.

The best way to make sure you properly spread the seed when planting new grass seed is to use a spreader. You can buy a hand powered spreader for cheap and will work great for small to middle sized lawns. If you have a large lawn it would be better to get a spreader you can push to save energy.

After you are done planting new grass seed you need to then lay down some starter fertilizer to help increase the chance of success.

Once you have planting new grass seed and fertilized, it is time to water your new grass seed to ensure that the soil get soaked six inches deep. You don’t want to pound the ground after planting new grass seed so be sure to use a sprinkler to ensure proper coverage and soakage.
