How to Buy Used College Textbooks
With every semester comes the same old ritual: Millions of college students grit their teeth and bear the torture of spending an exorbitant sum of money on college textbooks. College textbooks are a worthwhile expenditure. However, you can significantly reduce their cost by doing your research and buying them used.

1
Visit your college bookstore or website and find out which textbooks you will need for the upcoming semester. Make sure you have your class schedule handy.
-
2
Search online. Major bookstores such as amazon.com or bn.com sell used college textbooks, as do half.com and many others. Use a price-comparison site like Google Product Search in order to find the best deal.
-
-
3
Visit your college's independent student website (if there is one). This website will often include a message board or classifieds for students looking to sell their used college textbooks.
-
4
Look through the public bulletin boards around campus. Many students, as well as other people who earn a small but tidy living selling used college textbooks, may advertise here.
-
5
Go back to your college bookstore if you are having no luck elsewhere. Used college textbooks there will be rather costly.

Tips & Warnings
Ensure that your books arrive in time for your classes. Search for used college textbooks several weeks in advance. If you buy online, allow time for shipment. When searching for used college textbooks, make sure that the textbook listed is the correct edition. You may find a great deal on your textbook and order it, only to discover that it is an earlier edition than what your professor intends to use.
