Motorola RAZR users occasionally need to remove the fascia, or housing, from the phone. The fascia must be removed to repair internal components or replace the faceplate or phone housing. Removing the fascia from a RAZR is a simple job with the proper tools.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Torx 6 screwdriver
  • Torx 5 screwdriver
  • Flat-head screwdriver
  1. Step 1

Power off the RAZR by pressing the red Disconnect button on the right side of the keypad.

  2. Step 2

Lay the phone on a flat surface with the keypad and screen facing down.

  3. Step 3

Press the battery latch and remove the battery cover.

  4. Step 4

Remove the battery using the flat-head screwdriver.

  5. Step 5

Remove the SIM card if present. T-Mobile issues the RAZR with a SIM card, though most other carriers do not. If T-Mobile is not your service provider, the phone most likely will not have a SIM card.

  6. Step 6

Remove the two T6 screws at the bottom of the battery casing.

  7. Step 7

Carefully pry the bottom of the phone apart using the flat-head screwdriver. Do not break the plastic piece connecting the front to the back of the phone.

  8. Step 8

Remove the keypad from the phone using the T6 screwdriver. Slightly bend the metal tabs to remove the keypad.

  9. Step 9

Use the T5 screwdriver to remove the rubber tabs covering the screws at each corner around the main screen.

  10. Step 10

Unscrew the four T5 screws around the screen.

  11. Step 11

Gently pry off the cover using the flat-head screwdriver.
