Have a wooden chair or picture frame that you love, but you can't use any more because there is a loose screw?

Your screw has been stripped and isn't holding anymore. The screw itself is OK, but the wood that your screw was tight against has been stripped away.

Don't worry, there is an easy way to fix it.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wooden tooth picks
  • Wood Glue
  • Screw Driver
  1. Step 1

Use your screw driver to remove the loose screw. Clean off the screw--getting all the tiny pieces of wood off the screw.

  2. Step 2

Clean out the hole. Remove all the loose pieces of wood.

  3. Step 3

Fill the hole about half full with wood glue.

  4. Step 4

Break the tooth picks in half and put several into the hole with the pointed ends sticking out.

  5. Step 5

Coat your screw with wood glue and using your screw driver, screw it back into the hole. The tooth picks will allow the screw to tighten. The wood glue will ensure the tooth picks and the screw stay tight.

Tips & Warnings
  • You might need to use a vice to hold your pieces until the glue dries.
