How to Reprogram a Comcast Remote

If you have Comcast cable and have just purchased a new TV, you'll need to reprogram your Comcast remote control. This is actually quite simple and can be done easily by following these few steps.

Instructions

1. Find the code that allows your remote to program your TV. If you don't know the code, go to Comcast's website, select your specific remote, download the manual and find the code. (See resources below.)

2. Make sure your TV and Comcast cable box are both on. Press the "TV" button on your Comcast remote to switch it to TV mode. Then press and hold down the "Setup" button until you see the light of the TV key blink twice.

3. Enter the code that you found in Step 1 using the number pad on the remote. If you enter this code correctly, the light of the TV key will flash twice again.

Tips & Warnings

• Turn off the TV using the remote by pressing the "Power" button. If the remote is able to turn off the TV, you have successfully reprogrammed your remote.

• If you have a universal remote from Comcast, you can also use these steps to reprogram a DVD player or CD player by substituting the "TV" button with the "AUX" (auxiliary) button in the commands.
