How to Move a Human Skeleton

Human skeletons in classrooms or medical offices create a problem if you need to move them. Skeletons can be moved easily by any two people if you follow some precautions when doing so.

Things You'll Need

• Crate (long enough to fit the skeleton)
• Packing material ("peanuts")
• Bubble wrap
• Packing tape
• A friend to help

Instructions

1. Remove the lid from the crate and fill it to the halfway point with packaging material. Set the rest of the packing material aside; you will need it to the top after inserting the skeleton.

2. Loosely enclose the bubble wrapping around the skeleton; wrapping it too tight may cause damage, because they are brittle. Secure the edge of the wrap with tape to hold it in place.

3. Lift the skeleton by the shoulders (being careful to balance the head). Have your assistant lift by the ankles. Carefully place the skeleton in the crate.

4. Fill the crate the rest of the way with the excess packaging material. Be sure to allow plenty of material to rest between the skeleton and the crate. Skeletons are fragile and must be handled with care. Replace the lid of the crate and secure it in place.

Tips & Warnings

• Purchase extra packaging material; it is difficult to determine how much you will need when moving a skeleton.

• This procedure is not recommended without an assistant to help you. You may damage the skeleton if attempting to move it by yourself.
