How to Stop Grass from Building up on Lawn Mower

Learn Step by step instructions to help stop grass build-up on you Lawn mower deck. Allows for easier cleaning when it is due.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Putty Knife
  • Non-stick cooking spray
  • WD-40 Spray
  1. Step 1

    Place your push mower or riding mower on a flat surface and block the rear tires. Using a jack, Lifting a small mower up allowing access to the under-carriage. Place a block under the machine as to stop it from falling on you.

  2. Step 2

    Using your putty knife, scrapper, or wire brush remove all stuck on grass and build up from the underneath side of your mower. Ensure the bottom is clean and the metal is able to be seen.

  3. Step 3

    Heavily spray the blade and mounting with WD-40 Spray. Allow to dry for about 15 minutes. Then proceed to cover the entire bottom of the mower deck with a heavy coat of Non-stick cooking spray.

  4. Step 4

    Carefully remove the Lawn Mower from the blocked up area and return to a flat surface. Unblock the rear tires. You are now ready to mow. The coating you applied will stop grass build up on the under carriage of your Lawn Mower.

Tips & Warnings
  • Ensure that the mower is blocked to stop from rolling as well as blocked as to not to fall on you while cleaning. Treatment should be applied every time you clean mower.
