Are you looking to upgrade your point and shoot camera to a digital single lens reflex(DSLR) camera? This article helps you pick the right camera.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

There are many things to consider when choosing a digital single lens reflex camera(DSLR).

  2. Step 2

Price. DSLRs range from $500 to $10,000. Most manufacturers have an entry level line with a few cameras to choose from, a pro-sumer level line with a few cameras to choose from, and a pro line with one or two cameras. Each camera is replaced roughly every year to three years and each camera roughly lasts 1.5 to 4 years for sale. Last years model when a new camera is released will be a few hundred dollars cheaper than the new model.

  3. Step 3

Use. How will you use the camera? Everyday shooting is for entry or pro-sumer lines, portraits is entry or pro-sumer, but a full-frame is recommended, sports & wildlife is entry or pro-sumer with high burst rates, and pro is pro cameras or pro-sumer.

  4. Step 4

Lens selection. A few manufacturers have a larger selection of lenses than others, which allow you to expand your photography.

  5. Step 5

Stabilization. In camera or in lens. There are advantages of both and I will not get into that now. There are many articles that debate which is better.
