Carefully pick up the computer chip and locate all areas of detritus that must be removed.

Dip a cotton swab into a container of isopropyl alcohol. The isopropyl alcohol for this job is the standard rubbing alcohol purchased in any drugstore.

Lightly brush free any dust, removable staining or detritus that you want to clean from the computer chip surface.

Set the computer chip down somewhere to air dry. Alcohol cannot persist in the atmosphere and will evaporate in a few moments.

Once the alcohol is no longer present on the computer chip, you may safely pat it dry with a paper towel and reinstall it into your computer.

Placing the freshly washed computer chips in front of the fan will evaporate the alcohol faster off the chip surface.
It is important that you do not use water to clean computer chips, as water is not dielectric and may soak into the computer chip or cause shorts within the computer chip later.
