How to Change a Yahoo! Messenger User Name

On the Yahoo! Messenger instant messaging platform, a user can choose various user names called aliases so they can chat anonymously. There is no limit to the number of times a set of aliases can be changed. If you can supply names that nobody else has, you can add the aliases to your Yahoo! Messenger.

Instructions

1. Open Yahoo! Messenger and click "Profiles."

2. Click "Edit My Profile."

3. Click "Create a New Profile."

4. Enter your new user name. The new name is referred to as an "alias," and you can have a limit of five of them. Add other profile information to go with the new name, or you can leave it blank.

5. Set the new user name as the default user name, click "Finish" and restart Yahoo! Messenger. The new name will appear on-screen by default.
