Save Money Remembering These

Saving money on purchases and bills is commonly utilized. Here are some things to remember to do, to help you save even more.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Remember to complain.

When you are not getting good service or a good product, let the company know. Most companies want you to be satisfied and be a return customer. We recently had 2 situations where we had to complain, once to a hotel about a major problem, and another to an online sporting goods store for a much smaller issue. In both cases they issued a partial refund. We received over 170.00 for our time in letting them know about the problems.

  2. Step 2

Remember to mail in those rebates.

You can receive them on batteries, electronics, cell phones and many other items. Use them and get the cash back. It adds up over time.

  3. Step 3

Remember to turn off lights if they are not in use.

Regular lights should be turned off if you know you'll be out of the room for more than 5 minutes. However if you use fluorescent lighting requires a power surge needed to relight the bulbs. If you turn them off it should be because you know you'll be out of the room more than 15 minutes.

  4. Step 4

Remember to take advantage of coupons for area entertainment.

Often we use coupons to save money on groceries but forget to use them at restaurants and entertainment venues. If you purchase the entertainment books, you have coupons for baseball, water parks, wildlife parks and many other places for family fun. Use these coupons and save.

  5. Step 5

    Remember to share.

Share with your friends, family and neighbors. Ride share or carpool to work or the grocery store. Swap out babysitting. Swap out rented movies or the ones you have in your permanent collection. Trade off taking the kids on outings that are a decent car drive away to save gas.

  6. Step 6

    Remember to buy in bulk.

Purchase items in bulk that you know you will use a lot of. Items on sale, tooth brushes, toothpaste, paper goods, light bulbs and gift cards to name a few. Oddly gift cards often have a discount associated with buying them in bulk. Use the buy one, get one free offers when it is on items you commonly use, and the overall price is a real discount.

Tips & Warnings
  • The Entertainment® Books are massively discounted as the year goes by. Still the coupons are good through the end of the year. Purchase the current year's book in August and you will only pay 8.99, shipping cost included. Use only 1 offer and you will get that money back.
