How to Make Outdoor Wedding Decorations
-
1
Go to your local garden or home improvement store. For $20 to $30 you can buy a white arch you can use at the altar. String white Christmas tree lights through the arch if you have a place where you can plug the lights in. Weave green ivy into the arch and the white lights. For an added touch, top the arch off with real or artificial flowers that match your wedding flowers and color scheme. You can also use tulle or chiffon fabric to weave through the arch and then place the lights, ivy or flowers over the top of the fabric.

Visit local wholesale stores or shop garage sales looking for lanterns, hurricane lamps, oil lamps and candle holders. Also pick up small round or square glass mirrors. Place a mirror in the center of each of your reception tables and place a lantern, hurricane lamp, oil lamp or candle holder in the center. Sprinkle flower petals around the centerpiece and surround it with small votive or tea candles. For an evening wedding, the light on the tables adds ambiance and some extra lighting under the night sky.

Buy luminary bags and fill the bottom with sand, a rock or something to weigh the bag down. Use the bags to line walkways and paths or surround the pool in your backyard or at the hotel where you're holding your wedding. Once the bags are in place, put a small tea light in each bag to light your guests' way to the ceremony and reception area.

Use fruit or vegetables to decorate reception tables, the gift table, cake table and guest book table. For an outdoor fall wedding, buy big bowls that match your color scheme and fill with mini pumpkins, squash, and other types of gourds. You can also scatter autumn leaves around the bowl to further embellish the table.
For spring or summer weddings, you can use fruit such as lemons and limes to add a refreshing look to your tables. Use tall, slim vases as centerpieces and fill each vase with water. Sink and wedge the fruit into the vases filled with water. For an added touch, place a small bouquet of flowers to the tops of the vases.

You can embrace nature and create your own trees to use for several different purposes. Find large branches and twigs and clean the leaves and brush off of them. You can use the natural color of the tree or spray paint it white, silver, gold or another color to match your color scheme. Arrange the twigs and branches in the pot and dump marbles or rocks to hold the twigs in place.
You can decorate the twig trees by hanging white lights, ornaments, place cards, bows, crystals or beads from the branches. This is a great centerpiece for tables or you can use it to fill-in bare spots or cover ugly spots at the location.
