How to Buy Wholesale Beer Making Equipment

Since the mid-1980s, the hobby of home brewing has exploded throughout the United States. For many beginners a beer kit, where one just follows the instructions, can be adequate. However, for those wanting to spread out and explore more of the home brewing world, better equipment and better ingredients are essential. Of course, with how expensive beer equipment can be, it's best to purchase them as close to wholesale price as possible. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Check your local phone book for any home brew retail stores nearby. Call to see if they have the equipment--such as a brew kettle or fermentor--you are looking for. They most likely will have the equipment, but not at a discounted price. If this is true, ask about any possible used equipment and where you might purchase it.

    • 2

Look at your local Craigslist postings. This can be a good way to find used beer-making equipment. A link to Craigslist is provided in "Resources." Select the state you reside in, then the city. To the left will be a "Search Craigslist" search bar. Type in a product you are looking for, such as a keg or fermentor, The search will display any results from the area that match your criteria. Click on the listing. If you like the product, there will be an email address available. Email the person who posted the item to proceed with purchasing the product.

    • 3

Look through the beer websites posted in "Resources." These provide kits and other equipment at discounted prices and is a good resource if all else fails (although you will have to pay shipping).

    • 4

Select any product you want to buy and proceed to checkout, filling out of all the needed information and submit the order.

Tips & Warnings

  • Another good way to look for wholesale beer making equipment is through eBay. Although if you see a usable beer keg (most often used as a brew kettle or fermenter), purchase it on the spot, because they will sell out quickly.

  • Do not simply purchase a full keg from the store, drink the beer and not return the keg so you can use it for equipment. It is illegal to do so. Also, you will not be able to go to stores and ask for any used kegs. They are not legally allowed to give them away. This is why it is difficult to find good beer kegs.
