How to Change Wallpaper on Startup
Wallpapers customize your desktop by displaying images of your interests, hobbies or favorite people. However, staring at the same picture day after day can quickly become boring. Though you can easily pick new images through the Display icon of the Windows Control Panel, it's more convenient to apply such changes automatically during startup.

1
Install, download and run a free wallpaper utility such as Abs Wallpaper Tray. (The link is under Resources.) The program window appears.
-
2
Choose "Local Files List" from the Wallpaper Source drop-down on the right. This lets you choose specific files to include as wallpaper choices. You can also choose "Local Folders" if you prefer to use a folder of images or "Internet" to get images from the Internet.
-
-
3
Click the green "Plus" button at the top. An Open dialogue appears. Navigate to the picture you want to use. Double-click the file to add it to the Files List. Use Shift-click or Control-click to add several files at the same time.
-
4
Turn off all the Wallpaper options on the right except for "Start Wallpaper Tray" and "Switch Wallpaper on Startup." These options change your image only during startup.
-
5
Choose a Wallpaper Selecting Technique by clicking "Random," if you want images to appear randomly or "Sequence," if you want images to appear in order. To arrange the images in the Files List, click on a file to select it and use the green Up and Down arrows to move the image in the list.
-
6
Define how images are positioned on the desktop through the Wallpaper Position drop-down. Choose "Fit (Reduce/Enlarge)" if you want wallpaper to automatically resize so it fits on the display.
-
7
Click the green "Check" button in the lower-right corner to accept your selections. The program window closes. However, a program icon appears to the right of the task bar. You can access the program by right-clicking this icon and selecting an option from the pop-up menu.
-
8
Test your changes by restarting your computer. New wallpaper appears on the desktop.
