Open PowerPoint . There's no need to create a new document unless you want to use a template. PowerPoint opens with a blank template, ready for you to start building your presentation. If you'd rather start with a template, go to the "File" menu and select "New" and the"Template" command; then choose the template that most closely resembles the presentation you want to make.

Insert your own text and graphics. If you are starting from scratch, the text and graphic boxes are empty. Templates have placeholder text and graphics. Simply click the box on the document where you want to add text, graphics or music; browse to the location of any files you want to insert; and click the file to insert it into your presentation.

Format your text in any way you want using the WordArt and text formatting menu. You can choose font style, size and color, or you can shape the text in artistic designs.

Set transitions between your pages using the "Animations" menu. Transitions are visual effects that take you from one page of the presentation to the next. These include "wipe" left or right, "checker" in or out, and a number of other creative transitions that help add visual appeal to your presentations.
