Ahhhh, Summer! What better to quench thirst on a hot day then with a delicious, classic, Cherry LimeAde? This article explains a basic Cherry LimeAde, with tips on how to give it even more pop.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • a pitcher capable of holding at least 48 Oz.
  • 1 Liter bottle, Citrus Soda (Sprite, 7-up, generic brand, etc...)
  • 2 Fresh limes
  • one small jar of Maraschino Cherries in juice (actual size depends on how many actual cherries you would like in your drink)
  • Paring knife (to cut the lime) or Fruit slicer
  1. Step 1

Pour about half the bottle of Soda into the pitcher

  2. Step 2

Rinse limes in warm, running water. (be sure to scrub them with your hands)
Slice the limes into either 4 or 8 wedges
Squeeze the limes into the pitcher, then put the rinds in to soak.

  3. Step 3

    Add cherry juice.
For sweet, start with half the juice in the container and add to taste
For more tart, start with about a quarter of the juice and go from there.

  4. Step 4

Stir together the ingredients, SLOWLY, so as not to agitate the Soda fizz too much. Add the rest of the soda, and a few ice cubes.

  5. Step 5

Add a drink umbrella or martini sword through your cherry fruit to top off the drink and complete the picture.
(drink retains all its yummy goodness without the novelty fruit spear)

Tips & Warnings
  • If you would like to go beyond the basic Cherry Limeade, try adding different flavors of Frozen Sherbet. One scoop makes a great float.
  • Adding Vodka or Tequila can easily turn this childhood favorite into more adult fare.
