Things You'll Need:
- baking soda
- drying rack
- scrub brush
- dish rag
- dry cloth
- windex
-
Step 1
Rake off food into the garage disposal. Or use the kitchen waste basket, if you do not have a garage disposal.
-
Step 2
Always rinse dishes just afer use. This will save tons of time scrubbing later. Train everyone in the family to help out with this chore.
-
Step 3
Soak dishes if you have the time. Use a solution of baking soda, dish soap and very hot water. Use a small amount of baking soda and dish soap. It won't take much of either since you are soaking dishes this time.
-
Step 4
If you don't have the time to soak dishes, prior to washing just use the same solution, and fill up the sink with very hot water. Place dishes in the solution until the sink is about 1/2 way full.
-
Step 5
Pick up a dish at a time and scrub all over with the scrub brush. If you come across hard to remove food particals add a little baking soda to the dish and scrub again. Baking soda acts as a mild abrasive and will work wonders on dishes, pots and pans.
-
Step 6
Rinse dishes under very hot water and shake off remaining water. Place in drainer or on the counter if you don't have one.
-
Step 7
This methods works fast for me. I can wash dishes by hand very quickly for my family of 3. I am done in under 15 minutes, if I do the dishes after every meal!
-
Step 8
Dry glasses by hand to avoid water spots. Better yet, use plastic drinking glasses often.
-
Step 9
Scrub and clean around the sink when done. The washing solution will clean the sink right up.
