How to Install Photos on Windows XP SP2

One common use for home computers is digital photo storage. Windows XP SP2 provides you with tools to store, view and edit photos. You can install photos on Windows XP SP2 from numerous media formats, including digital cameras, cell phones, memory cards, flash drives, CDs and DVDs. You can also download photos from websites and emails. No matter how you get the photos, it is quick and easy to install them on your computer's hard drive using Windows XP SP2.

Determine where the photos you wish to install are currently located. For instance, if you take pictures on a digital camera, the photos are located either on the camera's internal memory or on a memory card stored inside the camera.

Insert the media the photos are stored on. For cell phones and cameras, you can use a USB cable, which may vary greatly based on the type of device, to connect the device to your computer to browse photos.
For Internet-related photos, browse to the website or email you wish to download the photos from.

Choose how you wish to treat images when a device or removable media object is inserted. Windows XP SP2 gives you several options. You can open the folder to view files, copy image files to the My Pictures folder, copy image files to the My Documents folder or print images. A menu is displayed once any removable media is inserted or when a device is connected. Choose which option is best for your needs. Most users choose to open the folder to view all files to have more control over which photos to install.
If you have software for your camera or cell phone, the software may start automatically to help you install photos.

Allow photos to be copied to your selected folder, or copy and paste files to any desired location on your computer's hard drive. To copy a photo, single-click the photo and press "Ctrl+C." Navigate to where you wish to install the photo and press "Ctrl+V."
For websites and emails, click the download link for the photo, choose "Save As," choose where you want to store the photo and press "Download" or "OK."
